This policy explains what personal information Smartwhip Tanks (smartwhiptanks.ca) collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA.

What we collect
- Order details — name, billing and delivery address, email address and phone number.
- Phone number — required at checkout, because we arrange payment with you directly.
- Order history — what you bought, when, and the amount.
- Messages — what you send us by email or WhatsApp, and our replies.
- Technical data — IP address, browser and pages visited, collected by our hosting and security logs.
- Account details — if you create an account, your username and encrypted password.
We do not collect or store card numbers or banking credentials, because we do not take card payments on this site.
Why we collect it
- To take, confirm and deliver your order.
- To contact you with Interac e-Transfer details by WhatsApp or email, and to confirm payment.
- To provide support and handle returns.
- To keep records we are required by law to keep, such as for tax.
- To protect the site against fraud and abuse.
We only use your information for the purposes above, or for a purpose you have separately agreed to.
A note about WhatsApp
If you choose to contact us on WhatsApp, or we use it to send you payment details, that conversation also passes through WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta and governed by its own privacy policy. If you would rather not use it, email us instead and we will arrange everything by email.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we never share it for advertising. We share only what is needed with:
- Delivery carriers — your name, address and phone number, so they can deliver.
- Our web host — which stores the site and its database on our behalf.
- Our email provider — which delivers order emails.
- Authorities — where we are legally required to disclose.
Marketing
We only send commercial email to people who have asked for it, in line with Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL). Every such message has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Order-related emails are not marketing and continue regardless.
Cookies
The site uses cookies that are necessary for it to work — remembering your cart and keeping you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block cookies in your browser, but the cart and checkout will not work properly if you do.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for as long as tax and business law requires. Account information is kept until you ask us to close the account. Support messages are kept only as long as they are useful for serving you.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, access to the store is restricted, and passwords are stored encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it where we are not required to keep it, or withdraw consent for anything you previously agreed to.
Email support@smartwhiptanks.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
